How to Manually Backup the RandRevit Database
If you need to make any sort of changes to the database, it is highly recommended to backup the RandRevit database.
It's also a good idea to have an up to date backup in case of disaster recovery.
Connecting to the database
RDP into the machine where the SQL Database is installed, if you are using the SQL database installed with Clarity it will be on your host server.
- Log onto the server as the Clarity Service account that runs the services and application pools, this should allow you to Log into SQL with Windows Authentication
- Open the SQL Server

Clarity PDF In Session Resolution Settings
I thought it might be helpful to see some examples of what the in-session Appearance settings looked like and what the time differences and file size difference are.
Time Saving Tip
In a nutshell, unless you are printing 3d views for final prints, you can probably get away with Low for the raster settings for Appearance.
Hardware
In this test I am using the Clarity PDF driver the Task Server on my laptop

Clarity 503 Error on Host
Reboot the machine after upgrading if you haven’t done so already, this may fix the issue.
The 503 Error means there is an issue with the application pools, typically this means they aren't running and the most common reason is the credentials.
Log onto the host machine as the Clarity service account
Check the Application Pools Open IIS (Internet Information Services) Select Application Pools on the Left
There are three Clarity application pools Right click on each one in turn and stop the service if it is running
Right click again and go to Advance Settings

How to Remove a Retired Task Server
Issue
You replaced a task server, but you can still see the old one on the Task Servers list
Cause
The task servers will drop off the last after Clarity hasn’t seen them for 21 days, unless there are still projects assigned to it.
You can force the removal as long as there are not projects assigned to the task server.
Solution
In the Clarity web portal, Task tab, Task Servers, select the task server to see if there are any projects assigned to it.
If there are Projects assigned, you will need to go to each of the projects

Clarity Task Tray Proxy Config for Sending Task Diagnostics from Completed Task ID
Issue:
Error sending task diagnostics from the host when things are locked down due to security reasons.
If sending diagnostics normally works, then clearing the logs folder will likely resolve the issue and this configuration change is not needed.
Please refer to the following blog to clear the logs folder: https://imaginit.helprace.com/i602-how-to-clear-the-task-server-logs-folder
Process:
- Log onto the task server as the designated Clarity account
- Exit the Clarity task tray and stop the Clarity Windows task server service in Services
- Zip the content of the logs folder (replace the highlighted value with your version of Clarity if different): C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server 2024\Logs
- Delete

How to Check the Status of the Task Servers
In order for Clarity tasks to be processed on the Task Servers, the Task Servers must be logged in with the designated Clarity account at all times.
If the machine does automatic Windows update, we cannot automatically sign back in and this will cause tasks to time out until the task server is signed back in.
In addition to that, the Clarity Task tray must be running in order to process Revit tasks.
For Clarity Windows Task Server tasks, that service must be running.
The 360 Token for these tasks uses the credentials tied to the project in the Clarity

How to Check if a Clarity Update is Available
Want to see what’s updated in Clarity?
Clarity updates are issued as needed, rather than on a schedule, so you can check to see what is in each update in the links below.
Update Links
Check your version(s) below for the latest notes and updates. Keeping up to date with the most current Clarity Version is always a good practice and may help prevent Task issues that may arise during your daily workflow.

Clarity 2025 Task Server Requirements
We recommend that the task servers be at least comparable to workstations used in production, if not stronger, especially if you are planning on running multiple sessions of Revit and or multiple logins (not typically recommended due to permission issues).
When referring to the Revit System Requirements.
Do not go with anything lower than the Value, but Performance is recommended, or value with double the ram if you have large models with multiple links.
If you choose to use virtualization, be aware that graphic intense tasks will not perform as well without a physical graphics card. Refer to the Virtualization section below.

Clarity Task Server Anti-Virus Exclusions
If you have anti-virus installed on the task server, it can interfere with processing tasks.
This post is for task servers not installed on the host server.
Symptom
Clarity Task Tray disappearing or not running. Lots of tasks fail with "The task has apparently died."
Anti Virus is removing the file or folders.
Resolution

Clarity 2025 Revit Task Server Config to Reset Claimed to New When Open Throws an Error
There is a way to place the task back into the queue if it opens in one session of Revit with an exception, so that it can be tried again.
If you prefer the task fail, the setting will need to be False. If you want the task to be put back into the queue, the value should be True.
There is not currently a configuration for a number of attempts, so it will continue until it times out if set to True.
This change is on a per Revit version basis!
Process
- Log onto the task server as the

Task Server Addins
For certain types of tasks, addins are required.
We recommend only installing the addins needed for tasks.
Some Autodesk addins install automatically with the software, but others are a separate install. If they are not on this list, please do not install them as they may interfere with the Clarity software.
Please also be aware that some addins can cause ownership issues when processing tasks.
Additionally, some addins are build specific and may vary by Clarity version. Please refer to the information below.
Revit Addins
Additionally, you will need to install the necessary add ins per version as needed for

How to Add the Clarity App to ACC
In order to enable Clarity to access ACC projects, the account manager must specifically enable access at the Account level.
To enable access:
- Sign into the ACC portal as an Account Admin: https://acc.autodesk.com/
- Select the Apps icon
- Select the IMAGINiT Clarity app and Install
- We only need access to Document Management
- The icon will change to look like the image below and will show as Active.
- The published files should show up in Clarity after about 5 – 10 minutes.
Note: The Clarity ACC integration relies on the Forge interface for Project/model information; therefore, the models do not exist

Make sure you log onto the task server as the designated Clarity account
Error Handling Overrides
- Open the Clarity task tray
- On the Revit tab
On the Revit tab, under Revit Error Handling Option, there are a few options, if you want to make selections you will want to set it to specified.

Clarity Windows Task Server Settings
The Clarity Windows Task Server will process tasks that don’t require opening Revit.
Some of the setup is inside of the Clarity Revit Task Tray, but since this runs as a service by default, the rest happens in the properties of the service itself.
Settings in the Clarity Task Tray for Revit
To limit the Windows tasks run on the task server, open the Clarity task tray, select the Server and Edit, go to the Tasks tab, expand Windows and Uncheck any tasks you don’t want processed on this task server.

Task Server BIM360 Token Bad Alert
Issue:
If you get an alert like this, that means that the Autodesk identity on the task server is no longer logged in.
ClarityRevitTaskServer: BIM360 Token Gone Bad TASKSERVER02
The Autodesk BIM360 Token on TASKSERVER02 has recently gone bad!
This is the Revit/AutoCAD sign-in, which is used to keep Autodesk products running in a batch mode. Clarity tasks will attempt to continue, but will likely be impacted!
