Upgrading Clarity to a new version of the software requires running the Setup.exe.  While it is not as simple as running the Updater from the desktop, it is not overly complex. There are video links below on the install process.  If you would like assistance with the install, please contact your sales representative to get some Design Assist hours (perhaps 2 hours) for a typical installation. IMPORTANT NOTE:  Backup the RandRevit Database It is recommended that you have a current backup of the RandRevit database. If Backup System Database is set to True in the General System Settings, you should see a weekly backup of the RandRevit

  • Clarity Task Schedule Only On Change

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

The Only on Change setting is intended to save unnecessary tasks from running, so if nothing has changed in the model, the task does not run.

What Determines if the Task Runs

When setting a task schedule to Only on Change, that means that even though that task is set to run at a set day/time, it will only run if one of the following occurs:

    • The date of the target file changed in Clarity since the last time it ran?

      • You can see that date on the Project Home page or

      • The Files tab for that file

        • If a

  • Clarity PDF Task Named Page Setup vs In Session

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

When setting up a Revit PDF task and defining the Page Setup area of the task, you can use a Named Page Setup, or define the settings in the task [In-Session]

It is important to know that the PDF driver that is used is set on the Task Server in the Clarity Task tray, unless you are using the Revit Export settings in this task (Revit 2022+)

The only PDF driver that can run in multiple sessions of Revit aside from the Revit PDF Export, is the PDFx driver.

All other pdf drivers can only run in one instance of

  • Task Sequence Setup Guidelines

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

A task sequence bundles together multiple tasks in a project so that they will run together, in a single operation, in a guaranteed sequence.

That means, that regardless of the server settings, the targets in this task will all run at the same time and in the order specified in the task setup.

If you are running a sequence on multiple targets, this could cause issues with tasks failing due to timeout issues.

The task server that claims the sequence will do all of the tasks in the sequence, for all models, in one session.

    Guidelines

    • You cannot mix File scoped and Project scoped
  • Clarity Task Servers and the Desktop Connector

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

There are specific versions of the Desktop Connector that are supported/recommended for Clarity.

Please check with support@rand.com before upgrading the DC on the task servers.

    Clarity 24.1

    • 16.9.1

    Clarity 25.0.22 (03/05/2025)

    • 16.12

    Clarity 25.1.6 (03/05/2025)

    • 16.12

      • If you have a mixed environment of Clarity task servers (25.1  and 24.1 for example) and update the DC on older task servers, you will need to manually select projects on those task servers and uncheck the automation in the Task Tray

  • How to Manually Backup the RandRevit Database

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

If you need to make any sort of changes to the database, it is highly recommended to backup the RandRevit database.

It's also a good idea to have an up to date backup in case of disaster recovery.

    Connecting to the database

RDP into the machine where the SQL Database is installed, if you are using the SQL database installed with Clarity it will be on your host server.

    • Log onto the server as the Clarity Service account that runs the services and application pools, this should allow you to Log into SQL with Windows Authentication
    • Open the SQL Server

I thought it might be helpful to see some examples of what the in-session Appearance settings looked like and what the time differences and file size difference are.

    Time Saving Tip

In a nutshell, unless you are printing 3d views for final prints, you can probably get away with Low for the raster settings for Appearance.

    Hardware

In this test I am using the Clarity PDF driver the Task Server on my laptop

Reboot the machine after upgrading if you haven’t done so already, this may fix the issue.

The 503 Error means there is an issue with the application pools, typically this means they aren't running and the most common reason is the credentials.

Log onto the host machine as the Clarity service account

Check the Application Pools Open IIS (Internet Information Services) Select Application Pools on the Left

There are three Clarity application pools Right click on each one in turn and stop the service if it is running

Right click again and go to Advance Settings

    In the Clarity Web Portal

    Issue

You replaced a task server, but you can still see the old one on the Task Servers list

    Cause

The task servers will drop off the last after Clarity hasn’t seen them for 21 days, unless there are still projects assigned to it.

You can force the removal as long as there are not projects assigned to the task server.

    Solution

In the Clarity web portal, Task tab, Task Servers, select the task server to see if there are any projects assigned to it.

If there are Projects assigned, you will need to go to each of the projects

If you are trying to update the software and are running into the following error message

Could not load file or assembly Ionic.zip, you will need to copy the file from another location to resolve the issue.

    Resolution

Log onto the host as the Application Pool identity

Through File Explorer, browse to: C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Monitoring Service

Copy the "Ionic.Zip.dll" file to a network location that you can access from the task server. Copy that dll into the following folder on your task server:

  • Clarity Task Tray Proxy Config for Sending Task Diagnostics from Completed Task ID

    Issue:

Error sending task diagnostics from the host when things are locked down due to security reasons.

If sending diagnostics normally works, then clearing the logs folder will likely resolve the issue and this configuration change is not needed.

Please refer to the following blog to clear the logs folder:  https://imaginit.helprace.com/i602-how-to-clear-the-task-server-logs-folder

     Process:

    1. Log onto the task server as the designated Clarity account
    2. Exit the Clarity task tray and stop the Clarity Windows task server service in Services
    3. Zip the content of the logs folder (replace the highlighted value with your version of Clarity if different): C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server 2024\Logs

  • How to Check the Status of the Task Servers

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

In order for Clarity tasks to be processed on the Task Servers, the Task Servers must be logged in with the designated Clarity account at all times.

If the machine does automatic Windows update, we cannot automatically sign back in and this will cause tasks to time out until the task server is signed back in.

In addition to that, the Clarity Task tray must be running in order to process Revit tasks.

For Clarity Windows Task Server tasks, that service must be running.

The 360 Token for these tasks uses the credentials tied to the project in the Clarity
