Clarity 2023 & 2024 Task Server Upgrade - Detailed Install Reference

Please make sure you have your Authorization code prior to starting the upgrade. 

ANNUAL LICENSES

If you have annual licenses let us know the activation count needs to be reset.  Please provide your current authcode which can be found in the IMAGINiT.lic file on the task server in this folder:  C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server for Revit\License

INSTALL PROCESS

  1. On the task servers log in as the designated Clarity account.
  2. Make sure the new version of Revit is already installed, including addins needed for tasks.
    1. Revit 2023-24 only supported OS is Windows 10 or 11, make sure it is updated as well prior to the install.
  3. Exit the Clarity Task tray and stop the Clarity Windows Task Server Service in Services. Note the identity assigned to the service in case it needs to be reset after the install.
    1. To access the Services tool, type in Services on the Search bar...you might want to pin it to the task bar for future use.
  4. Verify that the Clarity account has full control permission to the C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies folder, if not, add full control for that account specifically.
  5. Copy the License folder to the desktop:  C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server for Revit\License
  6. Delete the content from the license folder:  C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server for Revit\License
  7. Download and Extract the Task Server software to the local machine.
  8. If you have customized any config files, make a backup of them, or create a copy of this folder:  C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server for Revit and place it on the desktop, rename it to Clarity Backup in case we need to reference changes later.  Also backup the ClarityTaskService.config from this folder:  C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server 202#
  9. Right click on the Setup.exe and run as administrator
  10. Follow the instructions in the install dialogs
    1. Enter the credentials and password used to run the Clarity Windows Task Server.

7.  Do not check for updates at the end of the installation, there tends to be issues stopping services.

  1. Uncheck the box and finish

Licensing

  1. If the license dialog box comes up, enter your authorization code to license the software for stand-alone installs.
    1. If you don’t see the Licensing dialog, we will need to replace the dlls in this folder: C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Task Server for Revit\License
      1. Download the following dlls to the desktop for the version you are upgrading to.

      2. Extract the zip file content, verify that the dlls are not blocked, then copy and overwrite the ones in the License folder.
        1. Right-click on each dll
        2. Click “Properties” at the bottom of the context menu
        3. If it shows as blocked, Tick the “Unblock” box in the “General” tab and hit “OK”
      3. Rerun the license requester and enter the Authcode you were provided if you don’t already have a current license. If you already have a valid license you will see a dialog like this

Updating Clarity

  1. Exit the Clarity Task tray and stop the Clarity Windows Task Server Service.
  2. Run the updater from the desktop icon by right clicking and run as administrator
  3. If you use the Windows Service Task server also for tasks that don’t require opening Revit, Stop/Start the service and make sure that service is running and the proper identity is assigned to it.

Adding Revit 2023

  1. Open the task configuration tray and add Revit 2023
  2. Launch Task Server from Desktop icon to publish the changes back to the host.

Default Task Tray Credentials

If you are using the built in Clarity account for the task server user is below.  Please contact us if you need the default password.

  1. Username: Clarity@rand.com            Password:  Contact us at support@rand.com
  2. Be aware that if you changed the password for this account, you would use that password instead.
