Once a task get claimed but has not started processing is there any way for the host to periodically check and see if another server has become available and move that claimed task to the free server? We sometimes see a task sit in the claimed status for a long time waiting for a particularly long task to finish, but one or two other server are sitting idle.

We don't have anything like that now - although there is a setting on the Server / Settings / Task Processing section for "Claim All Tasks for a Model"...
The default behavior is that if there are 3 tasks for one model in the queue, the server will claim all 3, open the model once and then execute them together... But in some cases like yours, it seems like it might be better to just have them all treated individually.

Also, In this particular case the task that was stuck waiting was not associated with the one that was currently running. It just happened to get stuck behind a long running task.
Derek, in that case, the Claim All Tasks for a Model: No option would work around this for now.
