Upgrading Clarity to a new version of the software requires running the Setup.exe.  While it is not as simple as running the Updater from the desktop, it is not overly complex.

There are video links below on the install process as well as blog links.  If you would like assistance with the install, please contact your sales representative to get some Design Assist hours (perhaps 2 hours) for a typical installation.

    IMPORTANT NOTE

It is recommended that you have a current backup of the RandRevit database.

If Backup System Database is set to True in the General System Settings, you should

REST API: Optional UserExternalId parameter when creating a task

We use the /REST/Task/{id} POST operation for creating "child" tasks from other tasks. These tasks show as having been created by the Clarity Administrator user. It would be great if that operation had an additional (optional) parameter to specify an actual user so that this user would get notified once the generated task is done.

Change wording of missing task server emails for paused task servers

Would it be possible to send a different kind of notification mail if a task server was merely paused, e.g. "... has been paused for ... hours"? Typically pausing a task server happens for a reason whereas a missing task server would require a fairly immediate reaction.

How many times does a task fail before it disables?

As the question says,  after a task fails so many times Clarity disables it and adds a note in the task (which is great). How many fails does it take disable?

For BIM360 / ACC projects, can Clarity detect the upgrade and adjust the Clarity Project Settings accordingly?

Eric Stimmel · 3 · Last reply by Eric Stimmel

We've had a few cases where projects were upgraded on ACC and the BIM Manager forgot to go to Clarity and ugrade the project there and tasks just stopped running. Is it possible for Clarity to just do this on it's own?

  • Clearing Space on the Task Server

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

There are cleanup options in the Clarity task tray, which if checked will try to run once a day about 24 hours after the task tray was started last. Note: We cannot do the cleanup if Revit is running, so if tasks are always running, the cleanup may not occur. There could also be permission issues with deleting things as well at times.

So, if you want to clean up things manually, I have listed the locations below where you can regain some drive space.

You may also want to consider using the Windows Task Scheduler to clean things up.

Can we add columns to the All Projects table view?

Eric Stimmel · 1 · Last reply by Matt Mason

Is there a way (or could there be a way) to add columns to the All Projects table view? I saw a couple of other requests about adding task/task server specific columns, but I'm thinking more along the lines of the built in project properties like Type, Hub, Office, maybe Tags and also custom Project Parameters like if we create a BIM Manager parameter (which we have) it would be great to be able to filter the list of projects by that parameter or by office or filter out our hub to see what projects are hosted on external hubs,

Transfer Clarity Host to new virtual server

Bruce Gunderson · 1 · Last reply by Scott MacKenzie

    Hello,

We are upgrading our physical local server and need to transfer the Clarity Host on current virtual server on the old physical hardware to the new physical server with the transferred or copied virtual server with the Clarity Host. What is the best way to do this? Would setting up a meeting with Imaginit support be helpful?

    Any knowledge would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Where is the historical data that drives the model metrics graphs?

Scott MacKenzie · 2 · Last reply by Roan Isaku

I would like to be able to track the Model Score progress of all the Revit models in a project over a timeline.  Is the data that drives the model metrics graphs accessible? See image below.

I would like to create a line chart of all the models in a project, or the model score average of each project in our office.

    Thanks.

How do I get the name of the workset each Revit link is placed on?

    Scott MacKenzie · 0 · Posted

Is it possible to get the name of the workset each linked Revit model is placed on?

I have been running the Revit Database Export task with the Workset Data Option setting set to Exhaustive (and Medium), but my report options do not include a Workset Name or Workset ID for Revit link instances.  I also do not see workset information in the SQL database for the project in the RVTLinks tables.

I have project with over 200 Revit models, it would be very helpful if I could know if all their links were on an appropriate workset.

    Thanks.

  • Clarity Client How To Set the Default Server for Metrics

Sherry Pittman · 2 · Last reply by Matt Mason

If you don’t want to have to sign into the Clarity Client so that the users machine will track metrics like file open and sync times as well as untracked models, you can modify a config file to control this.

Note:  This will only track when you open a file that is workshared.

To Set Default Server for Metrics

You will need to edit a config file on the users machine to make this change.

    • The config file location is in the following location for all versions of Revit.
      • C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\ClarityClient.dll.config
      • Make a backup copy of the file before changing

  • Clarity Task Server Configuration to Always Hit OK

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

This is done at your own risk and will apply to all models on this task server that have the configuration files modified.

WARNING Modifying the ClarityTaskTray.exe.config and setting it to “true” will “Always hit the OK button, if there is one”, we feel like this is at least a little bit dangerous, so we don’t have it on by default.  There will still be dialogs this won't work on, since not all dialogs have an OK response.

Make a copy of the original config file before modifying it so you have a backup. If you edit the config file incorrectly

Issue exporting Clarity Rand database using SQL Server

James Nolan · 1 · Last reply by Matt Mason

While exporting the Clarity rand database using SQL server connection, we ran into the following issues and would appreciate your support with resolving.

    1. Clarity index data base is empty
    2. The Modeltime query table is only available for some users, we need that to be available for all the users working on the models.
    3. There are some query tables that are empty. E.g. (Diagnostic chart, User group, User group project, User group Revit user)
    4. Only some users are visible in user query tables.
    5. Model Size is negative and unreal number is query tables.
    6. We need to produce a 'matrics over time'

    Clarity Rand Database exporting

    Hafis Jamal · 0 · Posted

As we were exporting the Clarity Rand database using SQL server connection, we came across couple of hurdles.

    • Clarity index data base is empty

    • The Modeltime query table is only available for some users, we need that to be available for all the users working on the models.

There are some query tables that are empty. E.g. (Diagnostic chart, User group, User group project, User group Revit user) Only some users are visible in user query tables.  Model Size is negative and unreal number is query tables. We need to produce a 'matrics over time' diagram like below.

  • Clarity Tasks with Worksets None

Sherry Pittman · 1 · Last reply by Dustin Gore

You can increase productivity by running some of your tasks with Worksets set to None.  This will improve the open time, dramatically in some cases, depending on the size of the file and the number of links.

Below is a list of tasks that can run with worksets set to None without impacting the output from the task.

    Post action - E-mail Notification

Evgeny Kurbatov · 4 · Last reply by Evgeny Kurbatov

Yes, a task has an option for e-mail notification. But I want to notify a specific person about a specific task result.

Typically a project has tons of tasks, like printing PDFs, sending files, etc. And typically the user list for a project contains many person which are mostly designers who are responsible for such massive tasks. They all get notifications about tasks if that option is activated for tasks.

Let's say I have a specific task, i.e. "clash report" which result I want to send to a project manager. Currently I need to include the PM to users list.
