Bridged models in Clarity
Bridge models cannot be opened as Live models within Revit, which previously limited your ability to work with these referenced models in Clarity. We've solved this by adding new functionality that allows you to open models as Published directly in Revit.
While this enhancement can be applied to any model in your project, it was specifically designed to address the limitations of bridged models. In the image below, multiple files are selected in the project's Files area to "Open as Published." This ensures Clarity operations run against the latest published versions of these models.

Clarity 2026 Task Server Requirements
We recommend that the task servers be at least comparable to workstations used in production, if not stronger, especially if you are planning on running multiple sessions of Revit and or multiple logins (not typically recommended due to permission issues). When referring to the Revit System Requirements, do not go with anything lower than the Value, but Performance is recommended, or value with double the ram if you have large models with multiple links. If you choose to use virtualization, be aware that graphic intense tasks will not perform as well without a physical graphics card. Refer to the Virtualization section below. LICENSE COMPLIANCE Task servers are

Clarity 2026 General Upgrade Instructions and Video Links
Upgrading Clarity to a new version of the software requires running the Setup.exe. While it is not as simple as running the Updater from the desktop, it is not overly complex. There are video links below on the install process. Clarity Task Basics Setup-Above the Line
This blog is to cover the basic task setup Above the Line
When I say ‘above the line’ I am referring to the area shown below which is common to most tasks.
I am using a PDF task in this example, but this will apply to most Task types.
Above the Line
This is where you will set the basic settings of the task

Clarity Annual Licenses
If you have annual licenses in Clarity, the license start and end dates are tied to your subscription start and end dates.
The license will start on your subscription start date and end a year and 10 days later. There is a 10 day grace period built in which allows you time to renew your subscription and get a new authcode and license in place without a lapse in service.
When a new version of Clarity comes out, your assets are automatically updated in our system to that version of Clarity.
That doesn’t change anything on your system, but if

Clarity Task Schedule Only On Change
The Only on Change setting is intended to save unnecessary tasks from running, so if nothing has changed in the model, the task does not run.
What Determines if the Task Runs
When setting a task schedule to Only on Change, that means that even though that task is set to run at a set day/time, it will only run if one of the following occurs:
-
The date of the target file changed in Clarity since the last time it ran?
-
You can see that date on the Project Home page or
-
The Files tab for that file

Clarity PDF Task Named Page Setup vs In Session
When setting up a Revit PDF task and defining the Page Setup area of the task, you can use a Named Page Setup, or define the settings in the task [In-Session]
It is important to know that the PDF driver that is used is set on the Task Server in the Clarity Task tray, unless you are using the Revit Export settings in this task (Revit 2022+)
The only PDF driver that can run in multiple sessions of Revit aside from the Revit PDF Export, is the PDFx driver.
All other pdf drivers can only run in one instance of

Task Sequence Setup Guidelines
A task sequence bundles together multiple tasks in a project so that they will run together, in a single operation, in a guaranteed sequence.
That means, that regardless of the server settings, the targets in this task will all run at the same time and in the order specified in the task setup.
If you are running a sequence on multiple targets, this could cause issues with tasks failing due to timeout issues.
The task server that claims the sequence will do all of the tasks in the sequence, for all models, in one session.
Guidelines
- You cannot mix File scoped and Project scoped

Clarity Task Servers and the Desktop Connector
There are specific versions of the Desktop Connector that are supported/recommended for Clarity.
Please check with support@rand.com before upgrading the DC on the task servers.
Minimum Clarity build version listed below
Clarity 26.0.6.0 (07/24/2025)
-
17.0 is only supported in Clarity 26.0.6 and higher

How to Manually Backup the RandRevit Database
If you need to make any sort of changes to the database, it is highly recommended to backup the RandRevit database.
It's also a good idea to have an up to date backup in case of disaster recovery.
Connecting to the database
RDP into the machine where the SQL Database is installed, if you are using the SQL database installed with Clarity it will be on your host server.
- Log onto the server as the Clarity Service account that runs the services and application pools, this should allow you to Log into SQL with Windows Authentication
- Open the SQL Server

Clarity PDF In Session Resolution Settings
I thought it might be helpful to see some examples of what the in-session Appearance settings looked like and what the time differences and file size difference are.
Time Saving Tip
In a nutshell, unless you are printing 3d views for final prints, you can probably get away with Low for the raster settings for Appearance.
Hardware
In this test I am using the Clarity PDF driver the Task Server on my laptop
- Windows 11
- 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13850HX 10 GHz
- 64gb Ram
- NVIDIA 6gb gpu

How to Backup The RandRevit Database
The RandRevit database is the core of everything in Clarity, including projects, tasks, and more.
There is an option in the Clarity Server Settings to automatically backup the RandRevit database weekly to the backup location specified in settings.
Why you might need to backup the database
- You need to make changes to the database
- You need to send it to development to look over
- Disaster recovery
- Server migration
What you will need:
- Remote Access to the machine where the database lives (typically the same as your Clarity Host).
- Be able to sign in with your Clarity Service account (or perhaps the

Clarity 503 Error on Host
Reboot the machine after upgrading if you haven’t done so already, this may fix the issue.
The 503 Error means there is an issue with the application pools, typically this means they aren't running and the most common reason is the credentials.
Log onto the host machine as the Clarity service account
Check the Application Pools Open IIS (Internet Information Services) Select Application Pools on the Left
There are three Clarity application pools Right click on each one in turn and stop the service if it is running
Right click again and go to Advance Settings
Select Identity then select
