Clarity PDF Task Named Page Setup vs In Session
When setting up a Revit PDF task and defining the Page Setup area of the task, you can use a Named Page Setup, or define the settings in the task [In-Session]
It is important to know that the PDF driver that is used is set on the Task Server in the Clarity Task tray, unless you are using the Revit Export settings in this task (Revit 2022+)
The only PDF driver that can run in multiple sessions of Revit aside from the Revit PDF Export, is the PDFx driver.
All other pdf drivers can only run in one instance of

Task Sequence Setup Guidelines
A task sequence bundles together multiple tasks in a project so that they will run together, in a single operation, in a guaranteed sequence.
That means, that regardless of the server settings, the targets in this task will all run at the same time and in the order specified in the task setup.
If you are running a sequence on multiple targets, this could cause issues with tasks failing due to timeout issues.
The task server that claims the sequence will do all of the tasks in the sequence, for all models, in one session.
Guidelines
- You cannot mix File scoped and Project scoped

Clarity Task Servers and the Desktop Connector
There are specific versions of the Desktop Connector that are supported/recommended for Clarity.
Please check with support@rand.com before upgrading the DC on the task servers.
Minimum Clarity build version listed below
Clarity 26.0.6.0 (07/24/2025)
-
17.0 is only supported in Clarity 26.0.6 and higher
Clarity 26.0.2.0 (07/24/2025)
-
16.15
Clarity 25.1.12 (07/17/2025)
-
16.15
-
If you have a mixed environment of Clarity task servers (25.1 and 24.1 for example) and you update the DC on older task servers, you will need to manually select projects on those task servers and uncheck the automation in the Task Tray

How to Manually Backup the RandRevit Database
If you need to make any sort of changes to the database, it is highly recommended to backup the RandRevit database.
It's also a good idea to have an up to date backup in case of disaster recovery.
Connecting to the database
RDP into the machine where the SQL Database is installed, if you are using the SQL database installed with Clarity it will be on your host server.
- Log onto the server as the Clarity Service account that runs the services and application pools, this should allow you to Log into SQL with Windows Authentication
- Open the SQL Server

Clarity PDF In Session Resolution Settings
I thought it might be helpful to see some examples of what the in-session Appearance settings looked like and what the time differences and file size difference are.
Time Saving Tip
In a nutshell, unless you are printing 3d views for final prints, you can probably get away with Low for the raster settings for Appearance.
Hardware
In this test I am using the Clarity PDF driver the Task Server on my laptop
- Windows 11
- 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13850HX 10 GHz
- 64gb Ram
- NVIDIA 6gb gpu
Clarity 2025
Same set each time with Raster set to Color

How to Send in Diagnostics
When troubleshooting issues in Clarity, diagnostics tell us where to look to resolve the issues. The diagnostics come from different places depending on where the issue is occurring.
Diagnostics roll over pretty quickly, the more projects/tasks, the faster they roll over.
Please send in the diagnostics as close to time the issue occurred, or recreate the issue/rerun the task, then send in the diagnostics.
If you are unable to create a case when sending in diagnostics from the web portal you can email the manually gathered diagnostics to support@rand.com

Select priority as Launchable Parameter
We sometimes have staff requesting ability to control priority of certain configured tasks. Not so much that it needs to be sent straight to the top of the list, sometimes they even want to delay the start, or push it to very low priority. We can currently do this by duplicating tasks with different priorities - could the priority be made a launchable parameter so user can select their requirement at launch time?

New Metric/ Alert - "User" links
I've started to find a lot more "User" machine links than we'd prefer to see. I'd love a metric to keep track of this or other "unapproved" link locations, like old project folders or non-library locations.
Example screenshot attached. These links should be saved in our library or in the ACC Desktop location. Not in C:\Users or via OneDrive at all.
Some metric/ alert to be able to search for a string in the "link location" you're already saving to the sql would be great.

Clarity 503 Error on Host
Reboot the machine after upgrading if you haven’t done so already, this may fix the issue.
The 503 Error means there is an issue with the application pools, typically this means they aren't running and the most common reason is the credentials.
Log onto the host machine as the Clarity service account
Check the Application Pools Open IIS (Internet Information Services) Select Application Pools on the Left
There are three Clarity application pools Right click on each one in turn and stop the service if it is running
Right click again and go to Advance Settings
Select Identity then select

Select-DeSelect All Days in Task Schedule
It would be swell if there was a Select All and a De-Select All option for task schedule days. When you change from On Demand to Scheduled, all of the day checkboxes are activated. One example use-case: If I need to create a bunch of tasks that run one day per week, I spend a bit of time un-checking check boxes. Be nice to click a "Uncheck All" and then check the one day I need.
See attached image.

Clarity Task Server Office Location Configuration
If you want to set up Office Locations to specify for Task Servers, there are a few places that needs to be set.
In the Clarity Web Portal
- Log into the Clarity web portal as an Admin
- On the Server tab, Offices, add the office locations.
- Once you assign an office to a project, it will increase the number of projects.
- Once you assign an Office Location to a task server, it will increase the number of Task Servers.
On the Task Servers
- Log onto the task server as the designated Clarity account
- Open the Clarity Task Tray
- On the

PDF Page Setup - Offset from corner not center
Minor typo... The Page Setup for In Session in Clarity says "Offset from Center." I believe this should be "Offset from corner as it is in Revit. Center is a different radio button.

Add Revit Version Column to Task Tables
It would be useful to be able to see and filter our tasks (completed and current) by the Revit Version of the project being run.
This would allow us to gauge how many projects are running through each version of Revit in task load across projects.

Cloud model size - host only
Currently the project home page show the model file size as summary size of the host model together with links.
I think it would be more informative to see the host model size only. Or show both: host and full size?

Purge selected categories
I need to purge periodically Revit design models, but I don't want to remove all unused elements. I need to keep many elements like tags, pipe types, duct types, etc. in the mechanical model, because they are defined in the model by the company standard. But I want to delete all Families which people load for Mechanical Equipment, Pipe Accessories, Duct accessories, etc. They contribute the most to the models file size.
It would be nice if and application "Purge Categories" can be created. There I could select the categories I want to purge from the project. In fact, this

Revit Error Handling Options
I was hoping for a glossary that would help me trace the dialog boxes back to the Revit error handling option overrides in Clarity. I'm currently experiencing difficulties in determining which option to select, and I find myself needing to individually select each checkbox. Could Clarity consider adding a feature to simplify this process in the future?

How to Remove a Retired Task Server
Issue
You replaced a task server, but you can still see the old one on the Task Servers list
Cause
The task servers will drop off the last after Clarity hasn’t seen them for 21 days, unless there are still projects assigned to it.
You can force the removal as long as there are not projects assigned to the task server.
Solution
In the Clarity web portal, Task tab, Task Servers, select the task server to see if there are any projects assigned to it.
If there are Projects assigned, you will need to go to each of the projects
