  • How To Update the Clarity Task Server

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

    General

The task server update is a patch to the existing version of the Clarity Task Server software.  Example 24.1.13

Always log onto the task server as the designated Clarity account.  For most that is the service account set up for Clarity, however, if you have switched to Autodesk SSO, you will sign in with those credentials.

    Process

    Exit the Clarity Task Tray

    Open Services

Stop the Clarity Windows Task Server service

    Running the Updater

Right click on the Update Clarity Task Server for Revit and Run as Administrator

If a Windows permission dialog comes up select Yes to allow.

New Navis Export setting for Revit

Derek Becher · 2 · Last reply by Matt Mason

There are two Navis export setting that have been added to Revit recently, that would be beneficial to us. We would like to be able to control these from the clarity task instead of having to set them on each task pc for each version of Revit.

The setting are "Separate Custom Properties" and "Strict Sectioning". See attached image.

Custom TaskParameter with name "Target" returns multiple values

Edward · 3 · Last reply by Matt Mason

When creating a task parameter with the name "Target" like so:

The resulting TaskParameter value = *,a

If I rename the task parameter to any other name it returns the correct (singular) value "a"

It would appear that there might be a hidden property called "Target" that somehow is returning a value of "*" perhaps? When reporting all task parameters (when using any other name for this) I do not see TaskParameter Target = *

  • Clarity 2025 Host System Requirements

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

    Introduction

These prerequisites are required for all types of Clarity host.

This guide does not cover the full configuration and operation of the software – merely the host prerequisites.

    Hardware/Operating System Requirements

Clarity requires a server-class Windows Server operating system to be the central web server.

A dedicated server is highly recommended.  Whether you will be using Revit Server in your environment or not, the prerequisites are the same for Clarity, so the System requirements below should be referenced.

I highly recommend that you go with the Performance requirements, but no less than the Value for either circumstance of concurrent

  • How to Clear a Killed or Hung Task in Progress

    Issue

If you tried to kill a task in the current tasks queue, or it shows that it has been in progress longer than expected, it's likely that Revit is unresponsive or has crashed.

The task will eventually clear itself out of the list of current tasks, since only the task server can notice that the Revit.exe process is no longer running and mark it as "presumed dead".

The problem is, this could take some time, so if you want to hurry things along a bit you can try the process below.

  • How to Clear a Task Stuck in Claimed Status

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

If a task is stuck in the claimed status, the task server started opening the model, but something happened during that process that hung things up.  We aren’t able to kill it from the Clarity web portal, so you either have to wait for it to time out, or manually kill it on the task server.

If you are trying to get other tasks to run, you probably don’t want to wait for that to happen, so the resolution is to manually fix the issue on the task server.

    Causes:

If we are waiting for a response in Revit while

Move a claimed task to new server

Derek Becher · 2 · Last reply by Matt Mason

Once a task get claimed but has not started processing is there any way for the host to periodically check and see if another server has become available and move that claimed task to the free server? We sometimes see a task sit in the claimed status for a long time waiting for a particularly long task to finish, but one or two other server are sitting idle.

Can I choose between Project Base Point or Shared Coordinate while exporting .ifc file format?

    Chitt Kapadia · 0 · Posted

We currently lack the ability to select coordinate systems when exporting IFC using Clarity Task. However, for one of our projects, it's required to export the project with both the base point and the shared coordinates. Is it feasible to incorporate this option into the existing task?

    stp export

Derek Becher · 1 · Last reply by Matt Mason

Revit 2025 now has the ability to export .step/.stp files. Can this added to the list of export tasks? We get requests to export parts of our Revit models to step files frequently.

    Feature Request: "Run Script" Task

Paul Patterson · 1 · Last reply by Matt Mason

We are finding immense value in the basic "Run a Script" post action. However, we achieve so in a round about way by using the FileCopy task to do something meaningless, and then feed a script into the post task action to get the real work done.

It would be valuable to have a basic "Run Script" task

What is the max concurrent tasks a central host will support?

Paul Patterson · 2 · Last reply by Paul Patterson

We have thousands of tasks defined across several projects on a single central host.

Each of the projects have dedicated Task Machines to them - limited at the project level, but also via project and task type filtering on the task machine.

I observe that when one project has kicked off a large amount of tasks, other project tasks will sit in a new status - even though their respective task machine is sitting there twiddling thumbs.

It feels like that when the task machine is querying for tasks, it is performing something similar to a "select top 1000" ..

    Enhanced workset filter

    Felix Seguin · 0 · Posted

We can save a lot of time on tasks by filtering unneeded workset. That's why there is a filtering workset option on most tasks (if not every). Would it be possible to add a "preview" of the results (open or closed) of our filters? Just like the preview (test filter button) you have on the advanced file filter for projects.

Because right now we have to set the filters, run the task and wait for the it to end, assess the results and loop this process on every adjustment. Most of our coordinators don't take the time for this process

  • How to Update the Clarity Host

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

    General

Updates are patches to the current version you have installed.  For example 24.1.5

You can see if an update is available from the Server tab, Central Host to the right of the Update Version value.

    Update Process

Log onto the Host server as the Clarity service account (application pool identity)

In Services, Stop the Clarity services

Right click on the desktop icon Update Clarity Host, Run as Administrator

The updater dialog will come up to determine if the update is needed, if so it will start downloading the files needed to update.

When the update completes, it will indicate

  • Clarity BIMTrack Integration

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

BIMTrack integration requires its own credentials to access all projects on BIMTrack for the Backup task and Upload post action.

In BIMTrack, it is a two-legged OAuth Token, giving access to Clarity to a particular BIMTrack hub.

There is NOT a different set of credentials per user.

You only need one API token to have access to all projects on a BIMTrack hub.

    Setup

    • Go to your BIMTrack hub and retrieve the API Access token.

      • In BIMTrack - Hub Settings > Gear Icon > API Access Token

      • Go to the Clarity Server/Settings/OAuth page, BIMTrack and add credentials.

      • Enter the hub name

  • Clarity How to Increase the Monitoring Service Log File Max Size

    Sherry Pittman · 0 · Posted

The monitoring logs, with the default settings, will roll over at 100kb.

If you have a large amount of data, they will likely roll over too quickly for us to find the information we need for diagnostics.  To resolve this, and capture more data, we need to modify a config file.

Log onto the host machine as the Clarity Service Account

    Go to the following folder:

    • C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Clarity Monitoring Service

    • Make a copy of this file: Log4net.config and rename the copy extension to .ORIG

    • Edit the Log4net.config with Notepad

    • Change the value as shown below to increase the file size

View and batch editor of tags

Angelica · 1 · Last reply by Steven Rushmore

Would it be possible to create a view that lists all the projects but with the added column to show what tags are applied? And then the ability to modify/add/delete the tags applied from that screen?

This would facilitate a quick audit to ensure tags are applied appropriately.
