Clarity cannot access models on BIM360

We are seeing some major issues where Clarity is telling us it cannot access the models in a project. Tasks will run successfully one day and then fail the next. Or a particular task will run on one model and not another in the same project.

These are the steps we've found that will fix the problem sometimes:

  1. remove file filters at the project level
  2. remove Clarity from BIM360 project and re-add with Admin permissions
  3. request rescan after adding Clarity as Admin

IF we have a successful task run after this, we can sometimes add the file filters back into the project. Sometimes re-adding filters puts us back at square one and sometimes the steps above still don't work at all. Other times we have to keep file filters at the task level instead of at the project level.

Additionally, we have some projects where the project home page is telling us that the models are stagnant when in reality, it is a very active project with a large team working every day. Clarity has stopped seeing updates to the models and yet tasks marked to run "only on change" are still attempting to run.

Philip,

Here's my suspicion - this doesn't have anything to do with File Filters, etc...

The error message you're getting says it can't find that central model anymore. My guess is that this might happen if the central file is replaced (and gets a new Model GUID). That's an operation that we might not see for a little while - and we'll keep using our cached version of the file's MODEL GUID for opening...

Doing the Force Rescan might force this to update to be correct.

If you have a moment to send in Diagnostics, if you could send in diagnostics for a failed task, and then another task running on the same model later (when it works). We should be able to confirm if it is in-fact the Model GUID issue from the Diagnostics.

Matt,

I'm not 100% certain this is related to a replaced model (new GUID) because this exact error has been rampant across the firm for the past couple weeks. Actually I know for a fact that the project the attached images were taken from has not replaced their models. They have done a rename on BIM360 but that doesn't change the GUID.

I'll do what I can to try and get diagnostics over to you this morning.
