Post action - E-mail Notification

Yes, a task has an option for e-mail notification. But I want to notify a specific person about a specific task result.

Typically a project has tons of tasks, like printing PDFs, sending files, etc. And typically the user list for a project contains many person which are mostly designers who are responsible for such massive tasks. They all get notifications about tasks if that option is activated for tasks.

Let's say I have a specific task, i.e. "clash report" which result I want to send to a project manager. Currently I need to include the PM to users list. But it makes the PM receiving all low priority reports about PDFs, sent files, etc. I don't want the Clarity to be so annoying. I need to send a report about the specific task to the specific person.

It would be good to have a post action where I can put comma delimited recipient email list, and have a field for a message.

Sorry, I've just realize, that it should be two texts for email messages: in case of success and in case the task is failed.

Or it can be just one text which would be sent on success. In case the task is failed the system sends a standard "task failure" message to the given recipients.

Evgeny,

In this example - did we already use a Move/Copy Post Action to move the files into the "\\FileServer\....\Woriking\Clash Reports" folder? So we need to know, in the second post task action where the first post action put things? (more challenging, but feel free to say "yes").

No, I don't think so.

Let's consider two scenarios of the post actions (Move/Copy and E-Mail) requiring to define a path. What happens when the task is copied to a new project?

Scenario 1: A keyword [ProjectFolder]  is used for the path.
Result - no need to modify both post-actions

Scenario2: A direct unique path is defined.
Result - The task manager knows that the path needs to be modified every time for a new project for the post action Move/Copy. Then it is logical that the path needs to be modified for every post action using a direct path.

And if we are going to gift you with it, do you need to control the message that is sent?

Sorry, I am not quite understand what does it mean 'to control the message'?

* Message text? Ideally it would be HTML with Clarity keywords, i.e. [ProjectFolder]. At least it should form links in emails. A typical message I send is: "Find resulting report in the folder \\FileServer\....\Woriking\Clash Reports". The folder needs to be a link to allow a PM to reach it in one click.

* Sent success? If so then it would be good to have sending result in the task log.

Thank you.

That’s something that we could build. In a future release or via consulting.

but you might be able to script it yourself with a batch file post action.

I know, and we probably will do that. But it's pleasant to have such gift from developers. :)
