Can't deselect all projects at once in template task assignment dialog

The dialog where you assign a template task to projects has changed. You can now filter by tags - yay! But I can no longer deselect all projects to unassign them at once. I can check the top box next to Project and it shows everything on the current page being selected, and when I check it again, everything I can see deselects. Unfortunately, when I try to apply the change, I get a message that "Tasks failed to update". The effect of this in my organization is that we have to go through 38 pages of projects to unassign tasks. If there is a way to filter or search just for the selected projects, I haven't figured it out.
