Clarity/Revit BIM360 login

Over the past 2 months, we've encountered more customers having trouble with keeping their Revit task servers signed in to BIM360. This is due to a confluence of factors, including updates by Autodesk to Revit 2020.2 and Autodesk Desktop Connector.

The symptom was that instead of extending your signed-in Revit token, the desktop connector seemed to be wiping out the stored token after 1-3 days - meaning that you would need to sign in again.

Autodesk has been investigating this changed behavior, and it recommends that users upgrade to the newest Autodesk Desktop Connector (12.4).

IMAGINiT has also improved its auto-sign in behavior in Clarity Task Server 2020.1.9 - to better re-sign you in if your Revit BIM360 token should lapse.

Matt,

IS there any updates on this issue with Clarity 2021?

Peter - while it's hard to say for certain, a number of customers have downloaded the latest BIM360 Desktop Connector and the latest "AdSSO" shared component from Autodesk, and are no longer getting the constant problems that were seen in the past.

FYI folks- the newest Clarity Task Server 2020.1 update has another angle on the problem, it will attempt to trigger the "right" BIM360 login window by opening explorer to the BIM360 Docs / Desktop Connector item, if it senses trouble.

Let us know if it improves things.

Also - I see that Autodesk has released an updated version of its Single-Sign On component (which covers the BIM360 login). We're testing it now:

Thanks a lot Matt. Updates are installed...fingers crossed. If problem persists we'll test the SSO Component fix and continue observing.

FYI the hotfix did nothing to fix this issue and we're still struggling with constant logging out of the Autodesk Account.

We're seeing that once Revit logs out, the sign-in popup does not automatically appear and this the Clarity tray app cannot run it's automation and fill out the credentials. I have even deleted the webservice.xml file but it keeps logging out every 2-3 days.

Steve,

We're effectively doing that today. The challenge is that Autodesk  doesn't have an API for sign in, and is using a technology called "Qt" for the login window - and it's notoriously difficult to "auto-fill" via UI automation.

Are you updated with the latest Task Server update for Clarity 2020.1? We had some recent updates that either improved things, or improved the logging to see if we could further improve it still.

If you're fully updated, please send us your Task Server diagnostics the next time you have to sign in.

Thanks,

Matt

We are still having this issue on a daily basis with Desktop Connector v12.5.0.999

Can Clarity check Desktop Connector sign in status and re-authenticate per the account defined in the Task Tray settings when there is not a user signed in anymore?
